As we sat in a coffee shop, the SMOP (Science of Metaphysics
and Occult Philosophy) group was presented the subject of
‘Good vs. Evil’ for discussion. The question was: Is it
feasible to live life without evil? (meaning negativity,
harming others, etc) Such an interesting, thought provoking
subject, and timely for discussion considering the present
situation of human’s evolution. Here are my thoughts…
Comparison between good and evil is almost like comparing
apple and lime for me – as simple as apple is sweet and
healthy for you, while lime is sour and acidic to your
stomach. You bite an apple, a sweet smile shows on your
face, you eat lime, your face looks sour and gets twisted.
They have different smells, different colors, and
definitely, different tastes. Now, can we say that lime is
jealous of apple for its sweetness? I don’t think so…they
each have their own special quality, their own usefulness to
humans. So, now it is back to humans to make their choices.
What do we need to use lime for? When we marinate the meat,
or for whenever we want to drink Margarita. Apples? Anytime
you want it but it can be boring, too.
Back to the question, is it feasible to live life without
evil? Your definition of evil must be clear in mind. Is
murder evil? Whose family member is the victim, yours or
theirs? Is darkness evil? Can we survive 24 hours of
daylight? Here’s another …can one ignore a malignant cancer
in their physical body? Sometimes the experience of ‘evil’
shows up in our lives just to decide what is and what
isn't necessary for our existence. “The way to greater light
leads through darkness."
Going ahead feels like falling
back.
The even path seems rugged and
hilly,
The highest power a yielding
valley.
