I understand that it is human nature to desire to be
different, to stand out from everybody else to
get attention. Women especially are opposed to wearing the
same style of clothes as another woman, and would never
dream of being seen in an outfit worn to a party more than
once with the same crowd of people. Heavens forbid, what are
they going to say??
I love seeing these women whose preferences totally differ
from mine – they remind me to appreciate their refined taste
and their passion for uniqueness. But, can such opposites or
differences be really appreciated if not understood in the
same context as I believe in?
For instance, the colors black and white dyes when combined
will turn into gray – there’s like a bonding that created a
new color, a softer color tone perhaps. But can we say the
same thing about human characters? Can we really say that a
serial killer under Mother Teresa’s care will bring out the
good of all humanity? Or, how about a High Priestess of a
goddess religion … would she be a balance to the Evangelist
Minister to bring spiritual awareness, peace and compassion
to the world? I doubt humans are ready to merge two extreme
opposites in order to find harmonious ideals – not just yet,
maybe not even in our lifetime. I believe we have a long
ways to go to find that balance or harmony that everyone
seemingly, is striving for. While in this lifetime, that
line between two opposites will always be apparent and for
some, that line is much thicker or bolder.
Personally, I want to believe there was never a line between
them, that only our perception placed the line between the
two. Sadly, human awareness is confined and limited only to
the things that are seen and are tangible. Someday… when the
seduction of being in power is diminished and the glitter of
fame fades away, when right or wrong is fully understood as,
“It just is,” perhaps then some peace at the soul level may
be experienced. Hopefully, someday, we will come to realize
that there are many shades of gray as well, such as silver
gray, dark gray or even bluish gray – created from two
extreme opposite colors. The choice is for ALL humans to
learn how to blend two colors that make it appealing for
everyone.

“Having and not having produce one another
Difficult and easy balance each other.
Long and short complete one another.
High and low rely on each other.
Pitch and tone make harmony together.
Beginning and ending follow each other.”
