Summer Solstice, 2010

Summer Solstice Greetings!

The sun enters the cardinal water sign, Cancer, on June 21st, Monday at 4:29 a.m. PDT, also the day traditionalists celebrate Summer Solstice (winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere), the longest day of the year. This is the day that we thank the Sun God, for the light, warmth and comfort he has provided our home and family. In Hindu philosophy, this light energy is called Prana, our main source of vitality, in Oriental Philosophy it is known as, Chi’.

This year’s Summer Solstice is accompanied by unsettling forces that many astrologers have written about; some articles entertain the difficulties of life many of us are going through at present, others believe these forces offer great opportunities to make the changes for new beginnings.

Accompanying Summer Solstice, is a Lunar Eclipse on June 26, this can be tough emotionally for many of us. From then on through August 21, a T-square aspect between cardinal signs: Aries, Libra and Capricorn will play hardball and a very intense game against one another. The outer planets, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto are involved, so the game is played globally and the competitive energies are magnified due to the joining of Jupiter with Uranus in the same sign, Aries. Mars, ruler of Aries is also called the planet of war by the way, and Uranus is Mars’ higher octave. This aspect will remain throughout this time period and astrologers believe it to be a mechanism that results in an extreme discomfort to humanity – a crises that will affect all of us on many levels. So what does this mean to the layman?

This information can be interpreted as a sequence of unpleasant events could occur such as; a natural disaster resulting in losing many lives, a militaristic ideology may be actualized, or an ending of the form of government we have known in the past. On a personal level, it could trigger an ending of a long-term union, or freedom from a self-imposed mental restriction. Are we being pessimistic? Not really! As Tem Terrikar (TMA Publisher) states, this is “A Planetary Wake Up Call: June-August 2010”.

As we approach Summer Solstice, we, as spiritual beings can and will find ways to be kind, be compassionate and be thoughtful to one another. But, I believe we should go beyond positive thinking. Positive thoughts without proper action cannot accomplish much. There are many people like you and I who still believe that there’s so much good in life waiting for us. Let’s claim it, now! Share information, be resourceful without impingement on others, and be grateful for this country of opportunity. And, we pray… Mother/Father God, keep us safe, and Bless America!

Keep Sharing the Light!

Unscented candles

Question from several people:
Your suggestion on lighting unscented candles in the Lunar Insight Column, what is the reason for that? I love the scented ones, especially Vanilla.

Answer:
I love the scent of Vanilla, too! But in candle working (magic) the scent of Vanilla may not be appropriate for the result you wish to obtain. Quite often a candle manufacturer uses synthetic fragrances instead of herbals, a natural scent of the plant. Every plant has its own magical and planetary properties. By applying the plant material yourself, you’re closer to earth energy and with the process you employ into the unscented candle, would carry your personal energy thus adding the possibility of manifesting your intention.

Tarot spread for someone else

Question:
Would you lay a tarot spread for someone who is not present?
~A.M. California
Answer:
Yes and No. Yes, if it’s concerning a child in your custody or a family member who’d given you permission. No, if it were to “snoop” on somebody, like an ex-spouse, an ex-girlfriend, etc.

Thank you for asking,
Marcelina

New Moon inquiry

Hi Marcelina,
Question: I enjoy reading your New and Full Moon articles for over a year now, you’re usually pretty right on. How long does the energy stay as described in the write up? I was told it last for three days.
~R. J. Riverside, Ca

Answer: The Moon stays in one sign for two days and a half. The moment the Moon moves to the next sign, her objective changes. What you have to watch for is, while she’s getting ready to move into the next sign, a Moon Void of Course occurs. It usually means that new start-ups, in the case of a New Moon, may not get off the ground the way you expected – or not ever. But, remember that you have the whole first quarter moon to work on new beginnings.

Tarot: the Court cards

Question: I have been learning the tarot for a long time but I have yet to find the best interpretation for the Court cards. Would you have any tips to share? And is there any book you can recommend?   ~Grateful, Orange, Ca.

Answer: Thank you for asking, I feel like I am back to my bookselling business days again.  The court cards signify the “Who” in the spread. They can also show the part of you involved in a situation. This is easily deciphered by understanding the four elements and the twelve zodiac signs. Any book by Mary Greer or Rachel Pollack will serve a tarot student well.
