Divination for Starters
So many people are still very leery about divinations using tarot or astrology due to some of the misconceptions of what they represent. Understandably, being Catholic myself, these beliefs are rooted in our religious upbringing, or cultural background. I personally believe that to express doubts on divination can be healthy psychologically. We must remember though, that the reading is only as good as the interpreter. The images in the cards represent meanings to the unconscious mind, similar to the language of consciousness in words. Oh, gee! I hope I am explaining this process correctly.
Anyhow … I shall be posting questions here that I receive from aspirants, friends, clients and colleagues. The intent is not to entice arguments but rather to provide a way to discuss our personal views related to the symbols, images, or concerns. And, this is neither for interpreting a tarot reading or astrology interpretation, but to offer insights as to what they may represent. So join along with me on this opportunity to express your concerns and at the same time learn about divination. Your contribution will be appreciated by some of those who wonder about the mystery of life and the roles we play in this lifetime. So, come along and sign up. Remember, your input counts and if you have anything to say about the question below then share…
Q. About tarot: I thought I understood the astrology symbols for the major arcana until I went home and tried it. They are for the placement of the cards in an astrology reading, such as the second house is Taurus so if the card there is the queen of rods then I look at what the house means plus the significance of the queen in the position compared to for an example with queen of rod in the tenth house, the house of career which is Capricorn ruled by Saturn? In a Celtic cross reading the astrology symbols don’t have the same meaning? – R. A. San Clemente
A. All 78 cards in a tarot deck, 22 Major Arcana, 56 Minor Arcana, have their astrological significance. The Queen of Rods is one of the Minor Arcana. If she landed in the second house in the astrological spread it describes a monetary or financial activity whereas in the tenth house it talks about career or status in public. You’re right, the tenth house is the house of Capricorn ruled by Saturn. Whether it is a twelve houses’ astrology spread or a Celtic cross, the astrology symbols of the cards remain the same. The card would be interpreted differently depending on its placement.
