Summer Solstice, 2010

Summer Solstice Greetings!

The sun enters the cardinal water sign, Cancer, on June 21st, Monday at 4:29 a.m. PDT, also the day traditionalists celebrate Summer Solstice (winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere), the longest day of the year. This is the day that we thank the Sun God, for the light, warmth and comfort he has provided our home and family. In Hindu philosophy, this light energy is called Prana, our main source of vitality, in Oriental Philosophy it is known as, Chi’.

This year’s Summer Solstice is accompanied by unsettling forces that many astrologers have written about; some articles entertain the difficulties of life many of us are going through at present, others believe these forces offer great opportunities to make the changes for new beginnings.

Accompanying Summer Solstice, is a Lunar Eclipse on June 26, this can be tough emotionally for many of us. From then on through August 21, a T-square aspect between cardinal signs: Aries, Libra and Capricorn will play hardball and a very intense game against one another. The outer planets, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto are involved, so the game is played globally and the competitive energies are magnified due to the joining of Jupiter with Uranus in the same sign, Aries. Mars, ruler of Aries is also called the planet of war by the way, and Uranus is Mars’ higher octave. This aspect will remain throughout this time period and astrologers believe it to be a mechanism that results in an extreme discomfort to humanity – a crises that will affect all of us on many levels. So what does this mean to the layman?

This information can be interpreted as a sequence of unpleasant events could occur such as; a natural disaster resulting in losing many lives, a militaristic ideology may be actualized, or an ending of the form of government we have known in the past. On a personal level, it could trigger an ending of a long-term union, or freedom from a self-imposed mental restriction. Are we being pessimistic? Not really! As Tem Terrikar (TMA Publisher) states, this is “A Planetary Wake Up Call: June-August 2010”.

As we approach Summer Solstice, we, as spiritual beings can and will find ways to be kind, be compassionate and be thoughtful to one another. But, I believe we should go beyond positive thinking. Positive thoughts without proper action cannot accomplish much. There are many people like you and I who still believe that there’s so much good in life waiting for us. Let’s claim it, now! Share information, be resourceful without impingement on others, and be grateful for this country of opportunity. And, we pray… Mother/Father God, keep us safe, and Bless America!

New Moon inquiry

Hi Marcelina,
Question: I enjoy reading your New and Full Moon articles for over a year now, you’re usually pretty right on. How long does the energy stay as described in the write up? I was told it last for three days.
~R. J. Riverside, Ca

Answer: The Moon stays in one sign for two days and a half. The moment the Moon moves to the next sign, her objective changes. What you have to watch for is, while she’s getting ready to move into the next sign, a Moon Void of Course occurs. It usually means that new start-ups, in the case of a New Moon, may not get off the ground the way you expected – or not ever. But, remember that you have the whole first quarter moon to work on new beginnings.

Astrology: Sun, Moon, Ascendant

Question: What does it mean when one says I am a double or triple Cancer? How does it affect the personality of the person?

Answer:  A double Cancer means, the individual has both their Sun and Moon in Cancer.  When it’s a triple Cancer, their Ascendant or Rising sign is also in the sign of Cancer. The personality of the individual with their Sun, Ascendant and Moon all in the same sign, a rare occurrence, can carry the extreme of that sign, for good or ill.

Astrology: Part of Fortune

Hi Marcelina,

Questions:

I am truly fascinated with astrology and have been a student for a number of years. Studying the subject I have learned to accept my imperfections (and others’). One thing I’m still confused … how would you interpret the meaning of the Part of Fortune?  Is there an easy way to calculate it?      -E.J. San Clemente

Answer:

The Part of Fortune is an Arabian part commonly used in Hindu Astrology. As one of the sensitive points in the natal chart, I interpret it as “where one finds, luck, fortune and contentment”. I personally do not use the aspects to other planets with it, but the placement and the sign alone. The “old astrology schools” calculate Part of Fortune by: Ascendant + Moon – Sun. I use astrology software to save me from doing it manually, you can too.

Astrology: Year 2012

Questions: Are we all going to die in 2012?  The Mayan Calendar had indicated it to be so as well as the I Ching. What are your thoughts on this subject?                    - M.M. a client

Answer: I doubt that we are all going to die in 2012. Basing it on my understanding of the planetary influences, there are indications that the evolution of the human soul is preparing for the next level of “schooling”. The Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn, a volatile aspect, will be passing seven times by exact calculation between the year 2010 and 2012. What does it mean to a non-astrologer? Going back to the history of America, 200 plus years, every time that two outer planets (Pluto and Uranus in this case) are in cardinal signs (Aries and Capricorn), the nation has experienced a great depression.

Astrology: Pluto in Capricorn

Question: Everybody is talking about this transit, Pluto in Capricorn, to be a very difficult time for the government. Do you see it the way most people do? How long is the duration of this transit going to be? Is there a way out?                                                                                   -J.R. private student

Answer: Wow, this is a very tall order. My first thought is to say, if you are not working for the government, you are in a much better situation than those who are. I personally believe that during this trying time, those who are spiritually mature enough to understand the levels of these “extreme and rapid changes” will ride it out. Others will continue to find someone to blame and be outraged about, and the rest will choose to wear their rose-colored glasses. Pluto moves so slowly, it stays in the sign of Capricorn until 2023. I’d say, the only way out is to take a personal inventory, be wary of the “abuses and the excesses”, and keep only the necessities, for now. This is no time for pretenses and role playing.

Weaver’s Journal: Vernal Equinox

After a few years of self-imposed isolation from conducting a full “Women Circle”, yesterday was a beautiful day for a comeback. Nancy and Perry, two sisters of the path who had been with the original Maidens’ Web group, helped tremendously to complete the intention sent out for the Vernal Equinox – New Beginnings. Thank you, Perry and Nancy! I also want to thank Jackie, of La Luna Madre for sponsoring the event and the rest of the fourteen gorgeous women who made the Circle complete with joy, music and camaraderie.

Astrology: The Moon

Hi Marcelina,

Question: I have my Moon in the fourth house.  According to the astrology books I read it makes me very emotional. Since I was a little girl I felt like I can easily feel another person’s feelings but I kept it to myself. What else would you add about this moon’s placement?                                                                                                                                                                        - BJ of Riverside

Answer: The Moon represents the emotions, the subconscious and the instinctive behavior – She rules the fourth house thus the emotions dominate the individual’s life.  One can become very receptive to other people’s emotions and need to exercise discernment. The moon in the fourth house indicates a strong parental influence, a love of home and a desire to insulate the self in it. In horary astrology, the fourth house is also called the house of ending or the end of the matter.

Weaver’s journal

I just printed today’s chart – the Moon is in Cancer smacked right in the first house. Does it mean that everybody is feeling emotionally needy today? Venus in Aries just moved into retograde motion at 9:18 a.m. Ouch!! I checked myself… being Aries, how do I feel?

So far, I am feeling… I had to take Benadryl this morning, allergy symptom. I did not start to take any kind of medications until last year. I guess it has something to do with my hair turning blonde. J As I remember, when I first visited the doctor last year, she asked me as to when the last time I had a mammogram and those other women “things” check up. I said, this would be my first time – she almost fell off the chair!

Back to feeling  Venus in Aries, I have to remind John this morning to order the Romancing the 70’s CD Collection from Time Life. If it doesn’t sound Venusian to you, I don’t know what is. Thank God for having that Pisces rising in me – John needs it! J

Speaking of Venusian, I received an email from a gracious lady asking me to hold a workshop at her place in June- I am honored! She has big plans, ladies! She’s bringing women healers of all ages and traditions, together. I salute her! Sorry, I can’t mention the rest of the plans here – not yet…

Saturn-Uranus Opposition class yesterday with the intermediate students came out to be more about the new presidency’s stimulus plan. Also, I now have the 3rd correct? birth certificate info of our president. You see, I have gone to astrology sites and they all claim to have the correct one. Interestingly enough, everytime I get a new one, the chart looks better and better,  hmmm…
